On this special day, residents and staff at Hutton Manor Care Home in Pudsey joined the world in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Across Europe, celebrations marked this historic turning point in World War II. D-Day allowed Allied troops to liberate Western Europe and ultimately defeat Nazi Germany.

Our day began with an afternoon tea party, featuring cream scones, chocolate cake, sandwiches, and sausage rolls, all enjoyed with a cup of tea. Residents watched King Charles conduct a ceremony on TV as they enjoyed their lunch.

In the afternoon, we were joined by special guests from the British Legion. Together, we sang along to classics from the era, waving Union Jack flags and celebrating with joy. Activity Coordinators Emma and Becky added to the fun with Emma singing and dancing as an Andrews Sister and Becky dressed in full military camo.

Our residents commented on what a fabulous day it was, coming together to celebrate such an important and historic event.
