Hutton Manor Care Home celebrated St George’s Day with a series of engaging activities designed to foster community spirit and provide entertainment for its residents. The event, organized by Activity Coordinators Becky and Emma, included quizzes, picture bingo, and an afternoon tea, all set against the backdrop of British anthems and the patriotic fervour of St George’s Day.
The festivities began in the ground floor café where Emma led a challenging yet exciting St George’s Day-themed quiz, followed by a British quiz. Participants from both the top and ground floors demonstrated their knowledge and teamwork, ultimately “smashing it” to the delight of all involved.
At the same time, the first floor was alive with the sounds of laughter and excitement as residents engaged in a lively game of St George’s Day picture bingo. Becky, known for her dynamic approach, navigated the lounge, showing pictures that sparked joy and amusement among the participants.
The highlight of the day was the sense of joy and camaraderie among the residents, especially when one resident achieved a full house in bingo and proclaimed that everyone was a winner. This spirit of inclusiveness and celebration culminated in everyone receiving a prize, reinforcing the care home’s commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging environment.
The day concluded with an afternoon tea in the café where residents enjoyed refreshments and buns while listening to the timeless tunes of Vera Lynn and other British anthems, adding a nostalgic yet heartwarming touch to the celebrations.
