A major refurbishment of St Mary’s Chanterlands Lodge Care Home is nearing completion, creating a modern new care environment offering residential, dementia, respite and dedicated complex care in Hull.
Formerly St Mary’s Nursing Home, the building on Chanterlands Avenue has been extensively remodelled to create almost 20,000 square feet of modern accommodation designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence.
The refurbished home will include spacious en-suite bedrooms, comfortable communal lounges and dining areas, together with landscaped outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy.
Located alongside St Mary’s Chanterlands Care Home, which opened in August 2024, Chanterlands Lodge will broaden the range of care available to people across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, including specialist support for people with more complex care needs.
Expanding Specialist Care in Hull
A key part of the development is the provision of dedicated complex care, helping people with higher levels of clinical need access specialist support while remaining close to their families and local communities.

Together, St Mary’s Chanterlands Lodge and the neighbouring St Mary’s Chanterlands Care Home will provide a broader range of residential, dementia and specialist care options for local families.

Investing In Care and the Local Community
The refurbishment represents a further investment by St Mary’s Care Homes in Hull and will also create new employment opportunities locally.
Around 55 team members are expected to work at Chanterlands Lodge once the home reaches full occupancy, across care, nursing, hospitality, wellbeing and support roles.
Energy-efficient boilers and low-energy lighting have also been incorporated into the refurbishment to help reduce the building’s energy consumption and environmental impact.

St Mary’s Chanterlands Lodge Care Home is located on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull and is easily accessible by public transport for residents, families and visitors from across Hull and the surrounding area.
Subject to Care Quality Commission registration, the home is expected to welcome its first residents in early winter 2026, with a public open day planned as part of the official opening celebrations.
