Work on Bowburn Manor Care Home is moving into its final stages as St Mary’s Care Homes prepares to welcome residents to its new purpose-built home in County Durham.
Located at the Integra 61 development in Bowburn, the new 73-bed care home will provide residential, dementia and respite care in a modern and welcoming environment designed around the needs and wellbeing of residents.
Bowburn Manor will offer en-suite bedrooms across three floors, together with a range of comfortable communal spaces where residents can relax, socialise and spend time with family and friends.
Facilities will include an on-site café and hair salon, dedicated activity spaces, a sports room and landscaped gardens, complemented by a varied programme of activities and events shaped around residents’ individual interests and preferences.
Creating a welcoming new home in Bowburn
Leading the team at Bowburn Manor will be Home Manager Karen Johnson, who is looking forward to establishing the home as part of the local community.

The opening will also create significant employment opportunities locally. At full occupancy, Bowburn Manor is expected to support around 85 team members across care, hospitality, wellbeing and support roles.

Designed with sustainability in mind
Bowburn Manor is also one of St Mary’s Care Homes’ most sustainable developments to date.
The fully electric building has been designed around enhanced thermal performance and high-efficiency systems, with air source heat pumps and solar PV panels helping the home achieve an EPC A rating.
The energy-efficient design will help keep energy use low while maintaining a comfortable and reliable environment for residents throughout the year.

The home is expected to welcome its first residents later this year, subject to CQC registration, with a public open day also planned as part of its official launch.
