Adel Square Care Home recently welcomed local MP Katie White, to see how the home is helping expand dementia care provision in Leeds.
The 86-bedroom home officially opened in March 2026, offering residential, dementia and respite care services to the local area.
Designed with both comfort and accessibility in mind, the home features en-suite bedrooms, assisted bathrooms on every floor, and a range of shared spaces including lounges, a café, activity rooms and landscaped gardens. Residents will also have access to a full programme of activities, alongside services such as hairdressing, podiatry and visiting specialists.
A strong emphasis has been placed on dementia-friendly design. Distinct colour schemes and themed areas aim to support orientation and independence, while a mix of social and quiet spaces, including a café, music lounge and relaxation areas, offer flexibility for residents’ daily routines.
Katie White was invited to see our new home alongside the organisation’s leadership team, including CEO Steven Davis and Home Manager Diane Atkinson.
Steven Davis, CEO of St Mary’s Care Homes, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Katie White to Adel Square Care Home and share a tour of our newest development. Adel Square reflects our continued commitment to delivering exceptional care, combining a high-quality living environment with compassionate, person-centred support. We had a valuable discussion about the growing care needs within the local community and the important role Adel Square will play in meeting that demand.
“With dedicated residential and dementia care services, our team is proud to provide a safe, supportive and enriching environment for those who need it most. We’re grateful to Katie for taking the time to visit and learn more about our vision for care in Leeds, and we look forward to continuing the conversation as we support the community now and into the future.”
The home is led by Diane Atkinson, who brings more than three decades of experience in the care sector. Her focus, she said, is on building a well-run, welcoming environment from day one.
Diane Atkinson, Home Manager at Adel Square Care Home, said: “It’s a privilege to lead Adel Square as it opens and begins to welcome residents. The priority is to establish a home that feels settled and well-run from the outset, with care based around each individual and strong relationships with families.”
The opening of the new home comes at a time when demand for dementia care is increasing nationwide—a trend reflected locally, according to visiting MP Katie White.
Katie White MP OBE said: “With the continuous increase in care needs and the increasing demand for dementia care, new facilities in our local towns are vital to support those who need to access them.
“It was a pleasure to visit the impressive new Adel Square care home, creating many new local jobs in our constituency of Leeds North West. The team are really focussed on community engagement; it was great to hear more about this and their future plans as they continue to welcome new residents over the coming weeks and months.”
